Terms of Service

Welcome to Skillr. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Skillr Learning Management System platform ("Platform", "Service"). By using Skillr, you agree to these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using Skillr, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.

2. Account Registration

2.1 Eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years old, or have parental consent if under 18
  • You must provide accurate and complete registration information
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account

2.2 Account Responsibilities

  • You may not share your account credentials with others
  • You are responsible for all activity under your account
  • You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized access

3. Platform Use

3.1 Permitted Use

You may use Skillr to:

  • Access and complete courses you have enrolled in
  • Attend live classes and interact with instructors
  • Submit assignments and take quizzes
  • Earn certificates upon course completion

3.2 Prohibited Activities

You agree NOT to:

  • Share, distribute, or resell course content
  • Record, screenshot, or capture video content
  • Use multiple accounts to bypass device limits
  • Circumvent DRM protections or watermarking
  • Share your login credentials with others
  • Use bots, scrapers, or automated tools
  • Harass instructors or other students
  • Upload malicious content or malware

4. Content and Intellectual Property

4.1 Course Content

All course content (videos, PDFs, quizzes, assignments) is owned by the respective organization or instructor. You receive a limited, non-transferable license to access the content for personal learning purposes only.

4.2 DRM and Watermarking

To protect intellectual property, course videos may include:

  • Dynamic watermarking: Your email displayed on videos
  • Device limits: Access restricted to 3 devices per account
  • DRM encryption: Widevine (Chrome/Firefox) and FairPlay (Safari)

Attempting to remove or circumvent these protections is a violation of these Terms and may result in account termination.

4.3 User Content

You retain ownership of content you submit (reviews, assignment submissions). By submitting content, you grant Skillr a license to display and use it for platform operation purposes.

5. Payments and Refunds

5.1 Course Purchases

  • Prices are displayed in the currency set by the organization
  • Payment is processed securely via Razorpay or Stripe
  • Access is granted immediately upon successful payment

5.2 Refund Policy

Refund policies are set by individual organizations. Generally:

  • Refund requests must be made within 7 days of purchase
  • Courses with more than 30% completion may not be eligible for refunds
  • Contact the organization directly for refund requests

5.3 Course Access Duration

Course access may be time-limited based on organization settings. Check the course details page for specific access duration information.

6. Live Classes

  • Live classes are hosted via Zoom or Google Meet
  • Attendance is tracked and may be required for completion
  • Recordings may be made available for later viewing
  • Appropriate conduct is required during live sessions

7. Certificates

  • Certificates are issued upon meeting completion requirements
  • Certificates include a unique verification number
  • Certificates can be verified at /certificates/verify
  • Misrepresenting certificates is prohibited

8. Account Suspension and Termination

8.1 Violations

We may suspend or terminate your account if you:

  • Violate these Terms of Service
  • Engage in content piracy or sharing
  • Attempt to circumvent security measures
  • Engage in fraudulent activity
  • Harass other users

8.2 Account Deletion

You may request account deletion at any time. Upon deletion:

  • Your personal data will be removed within 30 days
  • Payment records will be retained for 7 years (tax compliance)
  • Course access will be immediately revoked
  • Certificates earned will remain verifiable

9. Disclaimers

9.1 Service Availability

We strive for 99.9% uptime but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Scheduled maintenance will be announced in advance.

9.2 Content Accuracy

Course content is created by organizations and instructors. Skillr does not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of any course material.

9.3 Third-Party Services

Our Platform integrates with third-party services (Razorpay, Stripe, Zoom, VdoCipher). We are not responsible for third-party service disruptions.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Skillr shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Platform.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Skillr harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your violation of these Terms or misuse of the Platform.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Bangalore, Karnataka.

13. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified via email at least 30 days in advance. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
